Assignment: What is AI and Why Should I Care?

Instructions:

Read the chapter “What is AI and Why Should I Care?” and complete the tasks below. Answer all questions thoughtfully. You may write your answers by hand or type them on your computer.


Part 1 – Check Your Understanding

1. Explain in your own words: What is Artificial Intelligence?
(2-3 sentences)


2. List three ways AI is already part of your daily life.
(Examples could be apps, devices, or online services you use.)


3. What is the difference between Narrow AI and General AI?
(Write at least 2 sentences.)


4. Name one reason why it’s important for young people to learn about AI.


Part 2 – Think and Reflect

5. Do you think AI is more helpful or more dangerous? Why?
(Write at least 5 sentences explaining your opinion.)


6. AI often uses personal data to make predictions or decisions. How do you feel about this? Should there be limits to what AI is allowed to know about people? Explain your answer.
(4-6 sentences)


Part 3 – Creative Task

Choose ONE of the following creative tasks:

A. Write a Short Story

Write a short story (½ – 1 page) about a day in your life where AI plays a big role. It could be realistic (using current technology) or futuristic. Be creative!


B. Design an AI App

Imagine you can create a new AI-powered app for teenagers. Answer these questions:

  • What does your app do?
  • How does it help users?
  • What kind of data does it need?
  • What rules would you include to keep it safe and fair?

Write at least one paragraph describing your idea.


C. Draw a Poster

Create a poster (on paper or digitally) showing the good and bad sides of AI. Include:

  • A title
  • At least 3 positive things about AI
  • At least 3 concerns about AI
  • Images or symbols to make it interesting

Take a photo or screenshot of your poster to submit it digitally.

7. Can you think of a problem in the world today that AI might help solve? Describe your idea in a few sentences.
